Sheriff seeks to put name to 'funny money' suspect | Crime
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
PLACER COUNTY, CA - Placer County sheriff's investigators want to identify the woman shown in surveillance camera photos from a local business for allegedly passing counterfeit $100 bills.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Dena Erwin said the fake bills have been used in different businesses. When store clerks hold the $100 bill up to a light source to check for watermarks and a stripe indicating authenticity, they're seen on the front of the currency. However, the markings show up as printed on the back of the bill when in real money they're embedded.
Anyone who can identify the woman was asked to contact Det. Jim Hudson at (530) 889-7855. Anyone wishing to report information but remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward was urged to call Placer County Crime Stoppers at 1 (800)923-8191 or go to the crime stoppers website.
